Using the latest technology, a more in depth picture of your eye health is possible. We can detect many eye diseases earlier, including age-related macular degeneration (AMD), retinal detachment, glaucoma, and diabetic eye disease.
Early detection can lead to better outcomes and monitor any problems more accurately.
Receive peace of mind that your vision and eye health are
in the best condition possible with the next generation of eye care technology.
YOUR RETINA
The retina is the delicate tissue lining the inside of your eye, it detects the light entering your eye.
A healthy, undamaged retina is essential for good vision.
The optic nerve takes the visual information that your retina collects to your brain to process how you see the world.
WE HAVE ALWAYS STRIVED TO INVEST
IN NEW TECHNOLOGY
As optometrists, we want to view your retina to check for sight-threatening disease, such as a retinal hole, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and more.
Our investment in new technology allows us to get a WIDER and DEEPER view of your retina and optic nerve using the combination of the Optomap and the 3D OCT scanner.
Combined knowledge
All of our optometrists have many years experience working in practice and at hospital. Their knowledge combined with the investment in the latest technology at Onlookers can look after the health of you eyes more thoroughly than ever before.
LOOKING WIDER – OPTOMAP
ULTRA-WIDE RETINAL IMAGING
The Optomap is a revolutionary innovation which enables us to take an image of the far periphery of your retina without the need for drops to dilate the pupil.
This makes it far easier to pick up retinal holes and tears, freckles and pigmented areas that need to be monitored for change and retinal changes that are related to health conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
AN OPTOMAP IMAGE SHOWS UP TO 80%
OF THE RETINA COMPARED WITH ONLY 15%
SHOWN BY A STANDARD RETINAL IMAGE
This makes it easier to see these changes and, crucially, records them for future reference so we can compare any changes, and get help before complications develop.
Monitoring progression in future
We keep a digital record of all your scans and images so we are able to compare results in future to monitor any progression and make it easier to determine if and when treatment is necessary.
LOOKING DEEPER – 3D OCT – OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY
The 3D-OCT scanner uses light waves to scan through your retina to produce an image of the ten layers of the retina beneath the front surface. This is particularly useful for detecting early macular disease as this occurs on the bottom layer of the retina, which is hard to see from the front surface using traditional methods.
A QUICK AND PAINLESS PROCEDURE THAT
SCANS THE EYE USING LIGHT WITHOUT TOUCHING
THE EYE OR REQUIRING PHYSICAL CONTACT.
We also use it to analyse your optic nerve which is particularly useful to monitor for changes relating to glaucoma.
