What happens if I have an Urgent Problem?
If you have a sudden change in your vision or eye pain then you may need a review of your eyes more quickly than a routine eye exam. We offer Minor Eye Conditions Service (MECS) appointments that review and treat minor eye conditions such as:
+ Red eyes
+ Ingrown eyelashes
+ Dry, gritty and uncomfortable eyes
+ Irritation and inflammation of the eyes
+ Significant recent discharge from the eyes or watery eyes
+ Recently occurring or sudden increase of flashes and floaters
+ Painful eyes
+ Recent and sudden reduced vision
+ Foreign body in your eye
MECS can be accessed on a self-referral basis or alternatively, your GP may refer you onto MECS if appropriate.
These appointments are sometimes funded by the NHS, please check your eligibility when calling.
If you are not eligible for a NHS funded MECS appointment there is a private charge of £45.
Please note that this service is not an eyesight test, it only covers the initial problem.
